The Alumni Association of AIM (AAAIM), led by Special Committee Head Ofelia Odilao-Bisnar, MBM held its first project with the Ayala-AIM Alumni Club (AAAC) dubbed as “Leadership. Live It. Conference 2019″ with a theme “Wisdom and Agility Amidst Disruptions: Where Experience and Youth Converge” last March 22, 2019 at the City Sports Club in Cebu City. This project is in partnership with the AAAIM Cebu Chapter and Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Vicky Garchitorena, MDP, Head of Ayala-AIM Alumni Club gave the welcoming remarks. Virgilio “Nonoy” Espeleta, MBM, Head of the AAAIM Cebu Chapter, opened the plenary session. He also shared AAAIM-Cebu Chapter’s brand-building activities for AIM. AAAIM Vice Chair, Coratec Jimenez led the invocation and made the closing remarks. The guest speakers were international economist and management strategist Professor Federico “Poch” Macaranas, PhD and Marketing Guru and former President and General Manager of Wyeth Phils. Perpetuo “Boy” de Claro, MBM 1973, AIM Alumni Achievement Awardee (Triple A). After the talks, there was a panel discussion participated by Aniceto “Jun” Bisnar, MBM – Pres. & CEO, Cebu Holdings Inc. & Vice Pres., Ayala Land; Teresa “Tess” Abesamis, MM – Dev’t. Management Consultant & BusinessWorld Columnist and Bernard “Bern” Villamor, EMBA – President, CIT – University. They also shared their knowledge, insights and experiences about leadership and management with more than 150 attendees comprises of alumni, guest, corporate leaders and students.
In the second part of the program was a business case competition “Business and Development Case – The Millennial Perspective,” where students are expected to apply their classroom lessons to a real-world situation in business, management and the society. Each team are required to share their opinion with the following topics: What Concerns Us Today: Cebu’s Competitiveness and Preparing for the Future: The Next Generation Talents. 8 teams from different universities participated the competition. Teams from the University of San Carlos (2 teams), University of the Philippines- Cebu School of Management (2 teams) and Holy Name University of Bohol (1 team) qualified for the final round. Each team presented their pitch to the panel of judges namely: Perl Jacalan, ME, ASAP Advertising Managing Director; Mike Macatangay, EMBA, President of One A-TEAMS Consultants; Nelia Navarro, MBM, Former DTI Asst. Regional Director; Benny Que, Famcor, President of Golden Prince Hotel and Suites and Felix Tiukinhoy, Jr., MBM, President of Virginia Food.
The following winners are: 1st Place – University of San Carlos, Group 1 members: Niña Marie Maandig, Kimberly Candice L. Lim; John Paul Gonia, 2nd Place- University of the Philippines- Cebu School of Management, Group 1 members: Felix Aca-ac, Jr., Immaculate Concepcion Cazar, Gayle Ruth D. Palermo, 3rd Place- Holy Name University – Sydney Ocular, Fionuoulla Hazelle Pantonial and Carrie Mitch Yu who won the “Best Presenter Award” during the competition. All winners received a certificate, medal and cash prizes from AAAIM.
