TRIPLE A AWARDEE 2020

“True leadership is about serving, inspiring, and moving people to make a positive change in the world.” These words from June Cheryl Cabal-Revilla perfectly capture the essence and mission of her leadership style. One of the Philippines’ youngest and most dedicated finance executives, Mrs. Cabal-Revilla completed her accounting degree from the De La Salle University at 18 years old. Driven by her work ethics and dedication to becoming the best, she continued her education, graduating from AIM as part of class MBM 2000.

At PLDT, Mrs. Cabal-Revilla led the company to consistent revenue and core profit growth and maneuvered turnarounds to profitability and stability, such as in 2011, where she helped turn PLDT-Philcom to profitability following Philcom’s acquisition. She also spearheaded the development of a center of excellence in Finance in the PLDT Group where she streamlined operations while improving internal financial controls that led to a cost-to-revenue ratio of less than 1% for all handled companies. Under her wing, the Finance team grew from their roles into strategic partners and value creators for the entire PLDT umbrella of companies. As CFO of Smart Communications, Inc. from 2015, Mrs. Cabal-Revilla led the way in developing and implementing cost-effective initiatives to stabilize company revenues.

These efforts led to numerous accolades and awards, such as the Senate Citation to Outstanding Young Filipinos, the 2014 CFO of the Year Excellence Award (Singapore), the 2015 BSP Stakeholder Award, 2016’s BizNews Asia Business & Real Estate Who is Who (BREW) award, and 2018’s Outstanding Innovator Award, to name a few.

A firm believer in continued education, Mrs. Cabal-Revilla completed the Stanford Executive Program at the Standford University Graduate School of Business in 2018. This lifelong passion for learning has translated to her advocacay to empower others to better themselves through education, championing programs such as the PLDT and AIM Management Development Program, which resulted in 172 graduates with 130 output projects from 2015 and 2017, as well as other projects to help students in remote regions and communities, such as School-in-a-Bag, which provides digital learning tools,

Sack Of Joy, which gives students school supplies, and the Dynamic Learning Program.

But of all these programs, Gabay Guro is the one closest to her heart. Founded by Mrs. Cabal-Revilla from a belief in the multiplier effect of uplifting the welfare of teachers, Gabay Guro is the flagship advocacy program of the PLDT-Smart Foundation. Around 43,000 educators have benefited from Gabay Guro’s Training programs on personality development, emotional intelligence, English proficiency, information technology, leadership, and creativity, among others. By providing teachers with opportunities for livelihood, professional growth and sustainability, Gabay Guro has transformed the lives of Filipino teachers nationwide.

It is this pursuit of individual excellence while empowering others to do so that makes Mrs. Cabal-Revilla’s unique brand of leadership a shining example to be emulated. With our own two hands lies the power to create our own destinies, and with the help of others and our faith in ourselves, we can succeed; and when we do, we must pay it forward. In Mrs. Cabal-Revilla’s own words, “We are blessed to bless others”.
