Corporate social responsibility was first introduced to the MPIC by Mr. Lim, which led to the creation of the MPI Foundation that deals with the 3 E’s of social infrastructure: Education, Environment, and Economic Empowerment.

Through the Metro Pacific Investments Foundation (MPIF), Mr. Lim established the Shore It Up project to help rescue, restore and revive coastal and marine ecosystems. Initiated in 2009 in the diving mecca of Anilao in Batangas after typhoon Ondoy struck Luzon, MPIC has since then shored up the coastal areas of Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Hundred Islands National Park in Pangasinan, and Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte. Since its inception, SIU has tapped 70,000 volunteers, and has partnered with 292 local and national government agencies, community organizations, companies, and private entities who share the same passion for Mother Nature. Shore It Up is recipient of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines’ Anvil Award of Merit for sustained environmental program from 2011 to 2014, as well as the Best CSR in the Corporate Governance Asia Award in the same period.

The corporate social responsibility activities advocated by Mr. Lim have become a trademark of the MPIC, and will continue as his legacy. For a man who has accomplished so much and helped so many on his way to the top, Mr. Lim’s outstanding qualities as a professional manager such as his competence, humility, empathy, ethical conduct, and compassion is an inspiration to many. His policy of action over words is what exemplifies him as a leader worth recognition.
